Raymond Carver- Carver was an American poet and short story writer during the late 20th century. Although he wrote both poetry and short stories, he was more famous for his short stories. He was known to be one of the main contributors to the revitalization of the American short story.

1) Will You Please Be Quiet, Please? (1977) A collection of short stories that are often considered as a foundation for Minimalist literature. The stories in this book were focused on segregation and the ways of life and the fallacies of suburban life during the times.
2) What We Talk About When We Talk About Love (1981) Another collection of short stories written by Carver. It consisted of 17 stories that were centered around various topics.

Ernest Hemingway- Hemingway was a writer whose minimalist style greatly influenced other writers during the 20th century. He was known for having an understated style that exposed his topic. He published two nonfictional works, six collections of short stories, and seven novels. He also distinguished himself by earning the Nobel Prize in literature in 1954.

1) For Whom the Bell Tolls (1940) A novel about a young American who is part of a guerrilla unit during the Spanish Civil War. He is a dynamiter who serves the task of blowing up an important bridge. It is known for the themes of death and camaraderie.
2) The Old Man and the Sea (1951) This story is about a poor, elderly fisherman from Santiago who battles a giant marlin from a tiny boat way out in the ocean. This book won the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 and was one of Hemingway's works that was cited for the Nobel Prize in 1954.

Ezra Pound- Pound was a literary critic and poet who was an active writer throughout most of the 20th century. He was very active in the modernist movement and was a key developer of imagism. His works also expressed many of the characteristics of minimalism. Imagism focused on clarity and precision which can also be found in minimalist works. It can be argued that imagism is the minimalism of poetry. Ezra's works showed the previously discussed characteristics of minimalism and he is known to be a minimalist.

2) Hugh Selwyn Mauberly (1920) This is a poem written by Pound that is a representation of himself. He found himself to be a person who appreciated all of the aspects of life like a poet would in a modern time where people did not view the world in the same light. This poem was used to show society the importance of the arts.
